Macropod Rescue
Learn the essential skills to safely rescue injured, orphaned and displaced macropods through safe handling, assessment and transport.

Our Story
Founded by Shai Ager in 2017, The Agile Wallaby Project was established to develop protocols for large-scale macropod relocation and rehabilitation throughout Far North Queensland. As the organisation grew, so did its mission, evolving into The Agile Project – Wildlife Inc., expanding beyond wallabies to support injured and orphaned native wildlife across the region.
Today, The Agile Project empowers volunteers with the knowledge, resources and support needed to rescue, rehabilitate and protect North Queensland’s native wildlife while promoting responsible wildlife care throughout the community.

FROM ONE VISION
Meet Our Founder
Shai Ager
Shai Ager founded The Agile Project in 2017 after graduating from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Ecology. Raised alongside wildlife by her mother, a dedicated wildlife carer, Shai developed a lifelong passion for protecting Australia’s native animals.
Driven by a vision for ethical wildlife management, she led the development of successful large-scale macropod relocation protocols, helping establish humane relocation as a viable option for managing human-wildlife conflict.
Today, Shai is an ecologist, licensed Spotter Catcher, Research Associate with CSIRO and founder of The Agile Project’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre on the Atherton Tablelands. She continues to lead volunteer training, wildlife rehabilitation and conservation initiatives while inspiring others to work towards a future where people and wildlife can coexist.
